Hi there!
There is just one spot in Whittier that cruise ships dock, and that’s the Whittier cruise terminal. This is located right in town.
The Whittier cruise port is located very conveniently for transportation to and from Anchorage. It’s just a few minutes walk whether train or shuttle is your mode of transportation.
It’s also located very conveniently for doing the best tour there is to do in Whittier. It’s just a few minutes walk to get there.
But you MUST arrange transportation in advance!Β There are not a bunch of taxis waiting outside the Whittier cruise port to take you to the airport.
The Whittier cruise port is a drive of 1.5 to 2 hours from Anchorage.
Anchorage airport is the airport you’ll use for Whittier.
For a cruise starting in Whittier, the vast majority of people stay in Anchorage the night before the cruise, and then go to Whittier the morning of the cruise.
For a cruise ending in Whittier, many people fly out of Anchorage the evening the cruise ends.

An interactive Whittier cruise port map that I created is below! This includes where the cruise ship docks, as well as the locations of the train and cruise shuttles!
There are partner websites that are included below.

π The train arrival/departure and cruise shuttle pick-up/drop-off are minutes away by foot from the Whittier cruise port. On google maps, look for “Whittier cruise ship terminal” (map)

Now here is the map I created.
It includes where the cruise ship docks, where the train arrives and departs, the approximate location cruise shuttles drop-off and pick-up, and the starting point of the best Whittier tour that I think you should consider doing!
There are also some things to do in Anchorage, as well as the location of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, which you will see is included as a stop on some cruise transfers between Whittier and Anchorage.
For example, for after your cruise, there’s the Whittier to Anchorage post-cruise transfer with a wildlife center stop.
For before your cruise, there’s the Anchorage to Whittier cruise pre-cruise transfer that stops at the wildlife center.
Your cruise line will also offer a shuttle between Whittier and Anchorage, so you can log into your cruise line’s account and look for the transfer there. Otherwise, 2 of the major cruise shuttle companies are ACT and Park Connection.

I have been on a cruise that’s ended in Whittier as well as a cruise that’s started in Whittier!

Or, zoom in to a particular area (Anchorage = upper left, Whittier = lower right) and just start clicking the icons on the map! Each icon has more details, so click to expand! If the map isn’t loading well for you, you can also open it directly in google maps.
