Hi there!

There is just one spot in Seward that cruise ships dock, and that’s the Seward cruise terminal. It is not exactly directly in town, but it’s not too far either.

The Seward cruise port is located conveniently for transportation to and from Anchorage. There are cruise shuttles with pick-up and drop-off right in front of the cruise port. The train is about a 15 minute walk from the cruise port.

You do need to arrange transportation in advance! There are not a bunch of taxis waiting outside the Seward cruise port to take you to the airport.

The Seward cruise port is a drive of around 2.5 to 3 hours from Anchorage.

Anchorage airport is the airport you’ll use for Seward.

For a cruise starting in Seward, some people stay in Anchorage the night before the cruise, and then go to Seward the morning of the cruise.

There are also people who stay overnight in Seward.

You may find more options for cruise shuttles on the day of your cruise though. Since shuttles between Seward and Anchorage tend to mostly serve cruise passengers, they are more frequently available on days cruise ships are in port, which is not every day in Seward.

For a cruise ending in Seward, many people fly out of Anchorage the evening the cruise ends.

If you want to get to town from the cruise port, there is also a free shuttle in Seward that has stops near the cruise port as well as the main part of town.

An interactive Seward cruise port map that I created is below! This includes where the cruise ship docks, as well as some things you might want to do in Seward and Anchorage!

There are partner websites that are included below.

Look for the Seward town map in the digital version of the official Seward visitor guide. (The map is towards the end.) On google maps, look for “Seward cruise ship terminal” (map).

Now here is the map I created.

It includes where the cruise ship docks, where the train arrives and departs, the best glacier tours in Kenai Fjords National Park, and some things to do in Seward!

There are also some things to do in Anchorage, as well as the location of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, which you will see is included as a stop on some cruise transfers between Seward and Anchorage.

For example, for after your cruise, there’s the Seward to Anchorage post-cruise transfer with a wildlife center stop.

For before your cruise, there’s the Anchorage to Seward cruise pre-cruise transfer that stops at the wildlife center.

Your cruise line will also offer a shuttle between Seward and Anchorage, so you can log into your cruise line’s account and look for the transfer there. Otherwise, 2 of the major cruise shuttle companies are ACT and Park Connection.

It’s also reasonable to do the 6-hour Kenai Fjords glacier tour on the same day your cruise starts or ends!

👆 How to use this map: Click on the top left icon for a list of what’s on the map! Or, zoom in to a particular area (Anchorage = top, Seward = bottom) and just start clicking the icons on the map! Each icon has more details, so click to expand! If the map isn’t loading well for you, you can also open it directly in google maps.

For the Seward town map, see the official Seward visitor guide. You can order a copy to be sent to you, or there’s a digital version. Look towards the back of the guide, and you will find a map with shuttle stops.

Also see the official Seward shuttle info which will tell you the dates and hours of operation of the free shuttle.

In 2025, the free Seward shuttle runs from April 22 to September 19, 2025. On days there’s a cruise ship in port, the shuttle runs continuously from 8am to 7pm. Otherwise, it’s 10am to 7pm.

There is a shuttle map there with the official shuttle info, but as an older map, it doesn’t include the shuttle stop near the cruise port. There is a shuttle stop pretty much directly at the cruise port. (I took it in 2024, so I can confirm!) There is an updated shuttle map inside the visitor guide, which does include the cruise port shuttle stop on the map.

In 2024, I used Dighton luggage storage in Seward and it went smoothly!
